What we think

The Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX is a fantastic in-dash navigation system that gives drivers a generous amount of flexibility. Suitable for both Apple and Android, it allows you to integrate your mobile device into your car with a minimum of fuss. While it may not be the most affordable system, it’s packed with handy features that let you customise your driving experience.

Both Apple Carplay and Android Auto are built into the Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX, so you can make the most of it no matter what your operating system. Both options allow you to control music with complete ease. They also allow for quick, easy hands free communication. The Android system also lets you organise any information on your phone into convenient, easy to manage cards. That way, the risk of distraction is at a minimum, but you can still access any crucial data when you need it.

An intuitive touchscreen makes for simple navigation of the Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX, regardless of your operating system. Featuring a handy pinch and zoom touchscreen, navigating around maps is the work of a few seconds. It’s user friendly, and unlikely to let you down at any crucial moments.

The device comes with maps of the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico already built in, which is extremely handy. You won’t have to waste time searching for the maps you need, and if you plan on travelling farther afield, picking up additional maps is easy. It also features an impressive 7.9 million points of interest already on its database. Odds are, if you’re heading somewhere, it’s probably already saved on there. All you need to do is click.

Dexter reckons “This is the best unit in the market now, i might as well get all the bells and whistles for years to come”, and that “The head unit is still working great” some months after setting up the Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX. Meanwhile EZC describes it as a “Car entertainment must”, that features an “Amazing radio”.

One major drawback is the cost. This is by no means the cheapest in-car device out there. But, as many users have pointed out, it’s best to regard it as an investment. There are already plenty of installable updates and adjustments available, letting you customise it to your needs. And with no end to these new modifications, you’re guaranteed to get your money’s worth.
